This event is done in cooperation with the Youth of our church.

Crop Walk

ELCA World Hunger Appeal

Community Outreach

Offerings from the mid-week Advent and Lenten services are designated for this ministry, as well as contributions through Special offering envelopes several times a year.

Clothing Drives

Each June and October, we invite the Rescue Mission of Trenton to our church to pick up used clothing, which they can either give to the needy or sell in their Thrift Shop in Trenton.

Advent Giving Tree

Each year, we set up a Christmas tree in our gathering area, decorated with ornaments. Each ornament has a gift or an age range named on it. We ask that the ornament be removed, and that the gift be purchased and placed under the tree. A snowflake or other decoration is added to the tree to replace the ornament. These gifts are then given to the Cherry Tree Club, children of persons who are incarcerated, and other local agencies.

Christmas in July Tree

This tree works the same way as the Advent Giving Tree, but it’s decorated with red, white and blue stars. School supplies and baby items are collected during this time. They are distributed to local agencies.

Timely Commitment

In addition to the ongoing activities, other ministry/outreach activities are addressed as they present themselves.

Housing Assistance

Habitat for Humanity

Prince of Peace members support the Mercer County chapter of Habitat for Humanity, which builds new homes for the needy with Volunteer builders.

Refugee Housing

Prince of Peace works with Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey to assist with refuge resettlement and to collect furniture and other household items for refugee families.

Spiritual Ministry

Prison Worship Services

Each Monday night, an ecumenical group provides a worship opportunity at the Youth Detention Center in Trenton. We also collect appropriate books for the detainees. Members of the congregation are encouraged to attend.

Advocacy

The Social Outreach Team sponsors several Adult Forms each year. Each forum is designed to raise awareness of a particular issue.
